The General Case Study Company (GCSC) is a unique and powerful instructional design for learning a particularly difficult subject to study experientially — conflict.
Initiated by "Conflict Doctor" Dan Dana in 1979 and continuously developed thereafter, GCSC has been conducted over one hundred times at the University of Hartford, Syracuse University, Ottawa University, Webster University, and other institutions. It has consistently been one of the most favorably evaluated courses at the University of Hartford Graduate School of Business, where Dr. Dana taught from 1978 to 2007.
With the aid of the on-line Instructor Manual, GCSC may be taught by college faculty who are skilled in faciliting experiential educational activities and who have a particular interest in the subject of conflict.
GCSC was once called "the most elegant instructional design I've ever seen" by an experienced professional designer of adult educational programs. Not only does it produce profoundly useful learning outcomes for students; it also is a fascinating activity for the instructor that has never failed in its 100+ presentations to yield highly favorable student evaluations. Dr. Dana's favorite student quote is, I was amazed at how much I learned without being taught directly by the teacher (Theresa Kenney, Manager, Travelers Realty Investment Co.)
Qualified instructors are invited to request an exam copy of the GCSC support materials.
